What do you really keep per sale?

Enter your selling price, your cost and the commission bol shows for your product. You get profit per order, margin, the break-even price and the price you need for the margin you want. Nothing is sent anywhere.

Pre-filled with the example on bol's own commission page (a pasta machine at €206.50, 12.4% and €0.95). The cost and shipping numbers are made up. Replace everything with your own.

How it is calculated

Bol charges a commission on each sale: a fixed amount plus a percentage of the selling price including VAT. The total is shown excluding VAT. This calculator follows the same method, and with bol's example it gives €26.56 where bol shows €26.55, a rounding difference.

Revenue is the selling price minus VAT on the sale. Profit is revenue minus the product cost, the commission, shipping or LVB fees and the expected cost of returns (share returned × cost of one return).

Break-even price is the price at which profit is exactly zero. The target price is the price at which profit equals your target margin of revenue.

Where to find your commission

Bol says the commission depends on the type of item and, in some cases, the selling price, and that the rates it publishes are estimates. The exact commission for your product is in your seller account under Articles. Bol may also lower the commission temporarily for selected items. Use the numbers from your account, not a general table.

What this does not include

  • VAT on the commission (bol charges 21% VAT on it for Dutch companies, shown on the sales invoice)
  • Advertising costs, such as Sponsored Products
  • Storage, handling or other fulfilment fees you have not entered
  • Your own time, software and overheads
